Notes:
This came to mind when I heard Orlando talking about doing pilates to help
strengthen his back.
I'm watching him
again - I can't help myself.
He's kneeling on the mat, loose cotton pants hinting at the treasure they
so demurely cover. His eyes are closed and he's completely absorbed,
utterly focussed and self-aware as his body glides effortlessly, flowing
from one gracefully dynamic movement to the next. The long, lean muscles
in his back flex as he rolls forward, the rays of late afternoon sun
playing across them in a diffuse dance of light and shadow. My fingers
ache to follow, to trace that warm, tantalising skin and to soothe away
any lingering pain from that ragged scar. But I don't interrupt the
perfect harmony I see before me, this balance of mind and body.
I just sit and watch.
Sometimes I have to capture the moment - on canvas or film, or with
hurriedly scribbled words on paper. But today I am content to simply
observe passively, committing this quiet, private moment to memory
forever. He is beautiful - achingly so - and I cannot blink, unwilling to
miss even a single breath.
The warm glow of light is casting lengthening shadows when he slowly curls
up, still at last, and serene dark eyes unerringly find mine.
"Watching me again, Vig?"
I return the smile.
"Always, angel."
